Spanish naval shipbuilding program according to the Dutch newspaper Tilburgsche Courant dated 16 July 1926

A news item dated Madrid 15 July published the intentions of the cabinet to increase the Spanish fleet. The proposal was to extend the fleet in the coming 10 years with a budget of 1,877,000,000 pesetas. However the cabinet didnt want to neglect the international agreements dealing with disarmament. The building included 3 cruisers of the so-called Washington type of each 10,000 tons, 12 submarines, 2 tankers and 3 destroyers. There was also a gunpowder plant and a torpedo plant to be found and the activities would start immediately. The newspaper Het Vaderland evening edition dated 15 July confirmed this item adding that the destroyers were of the Churroco type. Also the newspaper Het Centrum dated 16 July confirmed the item.
