British squadron towards Cadiz according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 15 August 1823

London, 9 August. An officer on board of the 74-gun Revanche (1) wrote from Chatham that his ship and the Spartiate (2) of similar size and two frigates were ordered to depart immediately towards Lisbon and to join there the British squadron which was anchored in the mouth of the Taag [Tagus]. This strengthened squadron had as destination Cadiz and was commanded by sir H.B. Neale. The Revanche was his flagship.

1. This must be the 74-gun Revenge, ordered to be built 29 September 1796, on stocks at the Chatham dockyard April 1800, launched 13 April 1805 and broken up in 1849. She measured 1.954 tons or 1.9762, tonnes with as dimensions 181'11"(gundeck) x 49'2' x 20'9".
2. Launched at Toulon, France 1797 was she captured by the British 2 August 1798. She measured 1.869 tons with as dimensions 186 (gundeck) x 48'3"x 21'10". Since August 1842 sheer hulk and broken up in 1857 (finished 30 May 1857).
