The departure out of Alexandria by the combined Turkish-Egyptian fleet 31 July 1827 according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 24 September 1827

Vienna, Austria, 13 September. Earlier tidings from Constantinople confirmed that the Turkish-Egyptian fleet departed 31 July 1827 from Alexandria, despite the fact an older tiding mentioned 1 August. According to the latest news she counted 89 sails and when the ships which already left Navarino are joined, the fleet will have a strength of 120 ships. On board were 5.000 or 6.000 soldiers. The fact that this fleet departed for sea, will be the main reason that the representatives of the three united powers demanded an answer from the Sultan within 15 instead of 30 days. Its to be expected that the commanding officers of the united fleets had become orders to protect the Greek cities against the Turkish and that war efforts of the Egyptian fleet would be disabled.
