The French, Greek and the Turkish navies in the Mediterranean according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 6 July 1824

Marseille, 24 June. With a merchant ship arrived yesterday tidings that 23 May when the night fell in the frigate la Junon (1) and that the gabarre la Truite (2) anchored off Milo. The two ships transported lieutenant general count Guilleminot the new French ambassador at the Ottoman court towards Constantinople. They left Toulon 14 days earlier but due to lacking wind the voyage was delayed. A day earlier they were joined by the frigate la Galathé (3) captain Drouot who was to command the French station in the Levant. She came from Tunis with on board a representative of the Bey for Constantinople. In the evening of the 23 the la Junon was joined by the brig le Cuirassier (4) coming back from patrolling. Some hours before departure they were also joined by the frigate la Medée (5) captain Rigny which departed the French Levant station towards France. According to rumours defeated the Greek fleet the Turkish fleet, the latter cruising in the waters of Negroponte.
