Rio Janeiro, 1 February. The emperor ordered the supreme counsel dealing
with the admiralty affairs to investigate all the civil actions before the
courts. Some diplomatic representatives in the town complained about the
behaviour of officers of the squadron which blockaded Buenos Aires and by other
Brazilian cruisers while inspecting ships.
Frankfurt, 13 April. According to tidings from Smyrna dated 2 March was
everything done to fit out the Turkish fleet. The rumours of the arrival of Lord
Cochrane in the Archipelago couldn’t be confirmed.
