Bottomry for Prussian bark Eduard lying at Vlissingen, Netherlands wanted according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 30 September 1866

An announcement reported that shipbrokers De Groof&Hector of Vlissingen, Netherlands were searching for some one interested in a bottomry in the Prussian bark ship Eduard captain Halberstadt underway with stores towards New York and which entered Vlissingen with damage.(1)

1. Archive notary Th. Uye Pieterse 1849-1891 inventory no. 1341, no. document 3.335 dated 1 October  1866. Fritz George Halberstadt  captain of this bark with as homeport Stettin received a bottomry of ƒ 7.995,00 from Jan Baptist de Groot, Vlissingen against a premium of 20% so he would have ƒ 9.594,00 to pay back after returning safely at home.
