Dutch captain Nijland rewarded for saving crew of burned American frigate Chicago according to ther Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Courant van Den Helder dated 8 October 1862

An item reported that the burgomaster of Rotterdam rewarded captain G. Nijland of the schooner ship Speculant with a beautiful golden watch with inscription and chain as a present of the US government for saving the crew of the American frigate Chicago burnt at sea and which he brought safely to Pernambuco, Brazil.
