German bark Java escaped Danish frigate Niels Juel by entering Dutch harbour Brouwershaven according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Courant van Den Helder dated 5 March 1864

An item dated Den Helder the 4th reported that that two days earlier the German bark ship Java captain Dehle of Bremen arrived at Brouwershaven coming from Batavia Dutch East Indies. She arrived safely despite the fact that the Danish warship Niels Juel (1) was searching for her.(2)

1. Between Denmark at one side and at the other side Prussian Austria an the Northern League was between 1 February and 30 October 1864 the Second Schleswig War going on.
2. Screw steam frigate with as sister ships the Sjaelland and the Julland. Laid down at the navy dock yard, Copenhagen, Denmark on 25 May 1853, launched on 20 September 1855, commissioned a year later and decommissioned on 25 August 1879. With a displacement of 1.934 tons and as dimensions 58,00 x 13 x 6,0 metres, a speed of 9,8 knots and original an armament of 42-32 pd guns which h consisted in 1864 of 3-30 pd guns, 8-rfled 18 pd guns and 4 rifled 12 pd guns.
