Dutch ship Californie transported troops to the Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Java-bode 19 January 1859

An item reported the intended departure on 5 December 1858 of a detachment of 125 non-commissioned officers and soldiers from Harderwijk, Netherlands to embark the Dutch ship Californie captain M. de Wijn bound for the Dutch East Indies. The detachment was commanded by infantry captain E.C. van Daalen accompanied by 2nd infantry lieutenant C.J.C. Hamming, 2nd engineering officer A.W. Nolthenius and officers of health 3rd class J.A. Eindhoven and H. van Lokhorst.
