British paddle steam sloop HMS Barracouta visited Willemstad, Curacao according to the Dutch newspaper De Curacaosche courant dated 7 December 1861

An item reported the arrival at Willemstad, Curacao on Thursday the 5th of the British 8 guns steam corvette Barracouta commanded by G.J. Malcolm coming from La Guayra. She left a day later again towards Jamaica.(1)

Wood-built paddle steam sloop, building ordered on 25 April 1849, keel laid down at the Pembroke Dock, England in May 1849, launched on 31 March 1851, finally broken up at Chatham, England in December 1881, a displacement of 1.676 tons, dimensions 166’4½”-190’2” x 35 x 20’5” and an armament consisting of 6 guns (2-10”, 4-32pd). Her crew numbered 100 men.
