An item reported the departure from Willemstad, Curacao on Saturday the 22nd of the British steam warship HMS Woodlark commanded by Stoker towards Kingston, Jamaica.(1)

Wood-built screw steam gun vessel of the Plover-class, building ordered in 1878, launched at the Chatham Dockyard, England on 9 march 1871and sold at Bombay, British Indies on 9 March 1887.The horsepower of 881 ihp allowed a speed of 10,802 knots. General specifications of her class were a displacement of 774 tons with as dimensions 148’-170’ x 29 x 15 x 9’4”-10’6” (draught). The armament consisted of 1-7” gun placed amidships and 2-4o pd guns, one and one after.
