Dutch naval squadron on the Schelde split up according to the Dutch newspaper Vlissingse Courant dated 11 June 1839

An item reported that immediately after the ratification the squadron on the Schelde would be split up. The corvette Zr.Ms. Boreas was to be laid up at Vlissingen, Netherlands while the brigs Zr.Ms. Mercuur and Snelheid were to depart towards respectively Hellevoetsluis, Netherlands and Texel, Netherlands.

1. ‘Kuil’corvette later called a corvette 1st class, on stocks at the navy yard at Vlissingen, Netherlands 1828 by C. Soetermeer, launched on 22 March 1833, sold in the Dutch East Indies in 1857, displacement 776 tons, dimensions 36,5 (between perpendiculars) x 10,0 (inner hull) x 4,25 (fore)-4,82 (aft) x 5,39 (depth below maindeck) metres and an armament of 28 guns:20-12pd guns of 20-30pd carronades, 8-12pd carronades and 2-6pd guns.
2. Mercuur or Merkuur, on stocks at the navy yard at Rotterdam, Netherlands 1830 by P. Glavimanss Jz., launched 6 April 1833, docked at the navy yard at Hellevoetsluis, Netherlands 14-19 December 1837&15-19 January 1839, 1-15 September 1849 and finally to be broken on 18 November 1853, dimensions 29,8 (load line) x 9,2 (inner hull) x 3,4 (fore)-4,5 (aft) x 4,5 (hold below maindeck) metres, 546 tons displacement and 18 guns (16-30pd carronades and 2-6pd guns).
3. Advice brig, launched at the navy yard at Vlissingen, Netherlands on 22 March 1833 door C. Soetermeer, scrapped 1849, sold 1850, dimensions 28,00 (load line)x 7,70 (inner hull) x 2,9 (fore)-3,70 (aft) x 3,86 (depth below gun deck) metes and an armament of 14 guns (12-12pd carronades and 2-6pd guns).
4. The so-called Belgian Revolution ended on 19 April 1839 with the Treaty of London resulting in the independence of Belgium.
