No British gunners serving in the American Asiatic squadron commanded by Dewey according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch nieuwsblad dated 21 July 1898

An item dated London, England the 20th denied the statement of Cunningham Graham that most of the gunners serving on board of the American squadron were deserted from the Royal Navy. According to the American department of navy were of the 1.445 men serving with Dewey’s squadron 67 foreigners of which just British and further more were those not gunners.(1)
