Spanish steamship Ceferoni torpedoed by submarine according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 18 February 1918

An item dated Madrid, Spain 13th reported that the Spanish steamship Ceferoni of Barcelona, Spain was torpedoed 500 miles off Cape Orchilla. The submarine towed four lifeboats with on board 27 crewmembers to the island Hierro, Canary Islands. The Ceferoni was loaded with salt destined for a British colony and further more stores for Manila, Philippines.
