Spanish privateers captured British privateer bound fro Gibraltar according to the Dutch newspaper Haagsche courant dated 3 June 1801

An item dated Algeciras, Spain 20th April reported that the Spanish privateers Laitance, San Francisco Xavier (gunboat) and El Mystico de Gibralter arrived on the 17th with a captured 10-12pd gun British frigate fitted out for war- and merchant purposes, captain Thomas Bishople underway with salted meat, corn and other victuals towards Gibraltar.
