An item reported referred to a tiding received from captain jonkheer H.A. van
Karnebeek commanding the Dutch frigate Zr.Ms. Prins Hendrik der Nederlanden
reporting his passing of the position 13.18 North and 25.19.27 West on 28
September heading for Cape of Good Hope and from towards the Dutch East
Indies.(1)

Frigate 2nd class, laid down by J. Vos at the navy yard at
Amsterdam, Netherlands on 3 September 1844, launched on 2 December 1847,
renamed as floating battery Pollux in 1859, displacement 1.861 tons, dimensions
48 (load line) x 14,4 (inner hull) x 5,7 (fore)-6,2 (aft) x 6,6 (hold below
upper deck ) metres and an armament of 38 (4-20”grenade guns, 20 long 30pd
guns, 12-medium 30pd guns and 2 long 30 pd guns)-44 guns. Docked as the Pollux
on 30 August 1859, undocked on 20 September 1859 and finally broken up.
