Maltese galleys captured 36 gun frigate of the Barbary States according to the Dutch newspaper Amsterdamse courant dated 15 November 1777

An item dated Naples, Italy 27th October reported that the Maltese galleys were cruising for ships of the Barbary States. After leaving Baja was a 36 gun frigate in the waters around Naples discovered and after a heavy fight captured by the knights and more as 200 men commanded by a said Jewish renegade taken prisoner. At first the frigate hoisted the French flag to prevent a fight which failed. The frigate would be the same as which captured a few months earlier a chebecq of Naples. An eyewitness saw that the Turkish frigate escorted by a galley arriving at Malta.
