Dutch top sail schooner Avatar 2010-
Originally built for the German Kriegsmarine in 1941 at Wolgast, Germany as a cutter with yard number 401. Composite-hull consisting of iron thrushes with a wooden hull. Appearance of a fishing cutter to mislead the enemy. Dimensions 22,11 x 6,26 x 2,27 metres and a gross register tonnage of 67,84 tons. At the Scheepswerf De Rietpol, Spaarndam in 1954-1957 complete rebuilt of steel. Renamed Nehim IV (AM26) of the Nederlandse Houtimport Maastchappij, Amsterdam, Netherlands. Since 1958 as the Rony (YM64) of Rederij Klaas Junior, Ijmuiden, Netherlands. Apparently since 1965 again owned by NV Nederlandse Houtimport Maatschapij Nehim, Amsterdam. Since 1966 Alie (KW40) of Bastiaan Varkevisser, Katwijk. Unregistered in 1969. Two years later owned by T. Zwart, Katwijk. Became in 1972 the Alice Therese (YM15) of T. Bakker en J.G. Koek, Ijmuiden, Netherlands, since 1974 the Grietje Maria (BU152) of Gebr. R.K.&P. Ruizendaal, Bunschoten, Netherlands. In 1975 stricken as fishery vessel and sold several times. In 2010 became André Hanzens her new owner. She was now converted into the top sail schooner Avatar which was in March 2014 commissioned.
