Portuguese royal yacht, warship and survey vessel (ex- Banshee 1900-1901) Amélia IV 1901-1911 (Cinco de Outubro 1911-1937
Built at the Banshee at the shipyard of Ramage&Ferguson, Scotland in 1900. Bought by the Portuguese king D. Carlos in 1901 to be used as his royal yacht and further more as warship and survey vessel. In 1910 transported she king D. Manuel II and family in exile towards Gibraltar. Renamed in 1911 NRP Cinco de Outubro. Steel built. Displacement 1.343 tons, dimensions 69,2 x 8,8 x 4,3 metres or 226.10 x 28.11 x 14 feet, 2-shaft reciprocating enginery delivering 1.800 ihp allowing a speed of 15 knots. Her crew numbered 225 men. The armament consosted of 2-47mm guns and 4-37mm guns. In 1921 were 2 37mm guns removed. Steel-built. Under her new name classified as despatch vessel.
