German navy testing reuse of torpedo nets according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1910-1911 no. 3
An item referred to the newspaper The Evening Standard which reported that the tiding that the German navy reintroduced the torpedo nets was premature. Just the SMS Nassau was fitted out with the nets at the moment as an experiment. The newspaper also claimed that the German navy was not up-to-date what was going on in the maritime world considering torpedo nets. The German ideas went back to the time that searchlights and a tertiary armament could stop any torpedo boat attack and torpedo nets were not needed. Just a few believed that the old defence tactics were good enough, although they also confirmed that a well performed torpedo attack on the Germen dreadnoughts could be disastrous.
