British former torpedo gun boats HMS Spanker and Skipjack participated in minesweeping exercises according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1913-1914 no. 4

An item reported that during an exercise in mine sweeping laid in the Calonsay passage and the entrance to Oban the torpedo gunboats HMS Spanker (1) and Skipjack (2) were part of the minesweepers division. The item called the minesweepers mine fishers.

1. Laid down at the Devoinport Dockyard as part of the Sharpshooter-class torpedo gun boats on 12 April 1888, launched on 22 February 1889, completed on 17 October 1890, converted into a minesweeper in 1906 and finally sold on 20 March 1920.
2. Laid down at the Chatham Dockyard as part of the Sharpshooter-class torpedo gun boats on 4 July 1888, launched on 30 April 1889, completed on 14 February 1891, converted into a minesweeper in 1906 and finally sold on 23 April 1920.
