Huge part of the displacement of the French battleship Dunkerque needed for armour according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1935 no. 6
An item referred to the magazine Le Yacht dated 3 August 1935 reporting that 40% of the displacement of the 26.000 ton French battle cruiser Dunkerque was used for protection consisting of 5.000 ton for the belt, 5.000 for the horizontal armour and 1.000 to for submerged protection. For the armament was 15% or 4.000 ton of the displacement used.(1)
