Sea charts on board British torpedo boats varnished according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1906-1907 no. 6

An item reported that the sea charts on board of torpedo boats were to be covered with a special varnish for a better protection against salt water. If a chart was to be improved was the varnish scrapped where necessary.
