American marines landed at Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua according tot he Dutch newspaper De Gooi- en Eemlander dated 28 December 1926

An item reported that American marines were at the liberal revolutionary bastion Puerto Cabezas (1) disembarked by the battleships Denver (2) and Cleveland (3). Vaca representing Sakas demanded that the marines would leave or otherwise would be disarmed. According to the department of the US navy were the marines just landed to protect American interests.

1. In Nicaragua was between 2 May 1926-4 May 1927 a civil war also called the Constitutionalist War going on. Sacasa was Dr. Juan Bautista Sacasa (21 December 1874 León, Nicaragua-17 April 1946 Los Angeles, California, USA), vice president 1926-1927 and president 1 January 1933-9 June 1936.
