American submarine USS Plunger launched according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1901-1902 no. 11

An item referred to the Army and Navy Journal reporting that the American submarine Plunger (1) was launched, being a sister ship of the Adder, Mocassin, Porpoise, Shark and Fulton. Speed 7 (submerged)-8 (surfaced) miles and a range of 40 (submerged)-500 (surfaced) nautical miles. Her crew numbered 7 men. The armament consisted of 1 torpedo launcher for which she carried 3 long Whitehead torpedoes with her.

1. Laid down at Crescent Shipyard, Elizabeth, New Jersey, USA on 21 May 1901, launched on 1 February 1902, commissioned on 19 September 1903, stricken on 24 February 1913 and finally sold to be broken up on 26 January 1922.
