Spanish gunboat Condor sunk after an explosion according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1901-1902 no. 11

An item reported that when the Spanish gunboat Condor (1) acting as fishery patrol a fishery vessel chased too much was asked form her boilers with as result an explosion and she immediately sunk. Of her crew which numbered 22 men were just 4 unharmed while the chief engineer, a stoker and a sailor were killed. The explosion was probably caused by the worse condition of the boilers which were already for a long time ago were condemned. Displacement 64 tons, a horsepower of 300 ihp and a speed of 13 miles.

1. Of the Cóndor-class consisting of the Cóndor, Cuervo and Aguila. She was built in 1887-1888 and lost on 24 January 1902 in the Vigo Bay.
