Decision to built a Dutch dreadnought waiting for return of vice admiral Tydeman according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwsblad van het Noorden dated 17 April 1914

An item dated The Hague, Netherlands 17th reported that with sending proposals for building a Dutch dreadnought (1) was delayed until vice admiral Tydeman (2) returned from the Dutch East Indies. He was to discuss there this matter with the Dutch East Indies cabinet.

Notes
1. There was never a Dutch dreadnought built due to the outbreak of the First World War. The dreadnought were principally to be built for defending the Dutch colony Dutch East Indies.
2. Gustaaf Frederik Tydeman (12 February 1858 Paramaribo, Surinam-1 May 1939 The Hague, Netherlands, ending his naval career since 1872 on 1 June 1915 as director and commanding officer at Amsterdam, Netherlands.
