Australian cruiser Adelaide was to be modernized according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1938 no. 5

An item referred to the magazine Marine Rundschau dated April 1938 reporting that the Australian cruiser HMAS Adelaide laid down at Sydney, Australia in 1915, launched in 1918 and since the past 10 years part of the reserve, was to be complete modernized.(1)

Laid down at Cockatoo Island Dockyard on 20 November 1915, launched on 27 July 1918, completed on 31 July 1922, commissioned on 5 August 1922, for the last time decommissioned on 13 May 1946 and sold to be broken up. Modified Chatham sub-class design of the Town-class light class and in some ways similar to the Birmingham-subclass.
