British HMS destroyer Mermaid executing trials according to the Dutch magazine dated Marineblad 1899-1900 no. 5

An item referred to the magazine le Yacht reporting that the British HMS destroyer Mermaid, built by Hawthorn and Leslie executed her official trials. With 15,8 atmosphere boiler pressure was with 400rpm during 6 runs on the measured mile the medium speed 30,9 miles and during a 3 hours trial with 6.541hp and 396 rpm 30,8 miles.(1)

1. Mermaid-class, built under 1896-1897 Naval Estimates, laid down by R.W. Hawthorn Leslie and Company, Hebburn-on-Tyne, England with yard number 343 on 7 September 1896, launched on 22 February 1898, commissioned in June 1899 and sold to be broken up on 23 July 1919.
