British shipping lacking sufficient number of stokers according to the British magazine The Engineer dated 28 June 1901

An item reported that the promised 500 new stokers were yet still not available. They were to number around 50 for each reserve ship lying in the dockyards. Actually their average numbers were just 10 or even just 5.
