Motor tugs building between 1946-1948 for the Soviet Caspian Sea Steamship Company (Kaspflot) at Baku, Azerbeidzjan according to a CIA report dated 3 January 1954

An item dealing with so-called stockpiling within the Soviet Union merchant fleet especially the Caspian Sea Steamship Company (Kaspflot) reported the building of 8 motor tugs at the Yard imeni Vano Sturua, Baku between 1946-1948. After the completion to be handed over to the company and added to the stockpile. The tugs were to be used of towing lighters and auxiliary tasks in the agencies of the company at Baku, Krasnovosk and Makhachla. The concept of stockpiling was that times of war the tugs within short notice could wholly/partially serve as military transport/auxiliary vessel without needing specially additional refitting.
