Latvian icebreaker Krisjanis Valdemars possible still not salvaged according to a CIA report dated 29 May 1953

An item reported that its was still unknown if the during the Second World War in Estonian water sunk Latvian icebreaker Krisjanis Valdemars was salvaged.(1)

1. Built by William Beardmore and Vickers, Glasgow, Scotland between 1924-1925 for the Navigation Department of the Ministry of Trade and Industry with a homeport Riga, Latvia. After the Soviet Union occupied Latvia nationalized and evacuated towards Tallinn, Estonia and sunk on 28 August 1941 when she struck a mine and sunk underway from Tallinn towards Kronstadt. With a gross register tonnage of 1.932 tons and as dimensions 60 x 17 x 6,7 metres. Horsepower 5.200hp allowing a speed of 3 (in hard/smooth ice)-14,4 (ice-free water) miles. Maiden voyage begun on 13 January 1926.
