Ex-HMS Awe of the River-class, laid down by Fleming&Ferguson Ltd., Paisley, United Kingdom on 27 May 1943, launched on 28 December 1943, completed on 21 April 1944, handed over to Portugal in May 1949 and broken up 20 April 1969. The River-class was especially built between 1941-1944 to be used as anti-submarine convoy escorts in the North Atlantic.

Ex-HMS Avon of the River-class, laid down by Charles Hill&Sons Ltd., Bristol, United Kingdom on 8 January 1943, launched on 19 June 1943, completed on 18 September 1943, handed over to Portugal in May 1949 and broken up 12 January 1970. The River-class was especially built between 1941-1944 to be used as anti-submarine convoy escorts in the North Atlantic.
