Honduras refrigerated fruit cargo ship Contessa 1930-1959 (Leeuwarden 1959-1963, Tropicana II 1963-1965, Santa Ana 1965-1970, Desguazado 1970)

Built in 1930 by Barclay, Curle&Co. Ltd Clydeholm Shipyard, Whiteinch, Glasgow, Scotland with yard number 638 for account of Vaccaro Bros&Co., New York, USA, since 1933 owned by Standard Navigation Corporation Inc., La Heibe, Honduras and managed by Standard Fruit&Steamship Company Inc., New York, USA (call sign HRBC), renamed Leeuwarden in February 1959 owned by N.V. Maatschappij ‘Leeuwarden’ and N.V. Gebroeders van Uden’s Scheepvaart- en Agentuur Maatschappij, both at Rotterdam, Netherlands (call sign  PFMR), laid up at Tampa, Florida, USA on 27 June 1961, sold in 1963, renamed Tropicana II of All Ocean Shipping Corporation, Panama in 1964, renamed Santa Ana of All Ocean Shipping Corporation, Panama in 1965, sold to Canadian interests in 1970, sold to be broken up to NB Intershira, Rotterdam, Netherlands and resold towards Italy, arriving on 26 November 1970 at Cantieri Navale Di Portovene, La Spezia, Italy where in February 1971 with the scrapping was started. Apparently renamed Desguazado in 1970.  Seriously damaged by fire broken out after a collision in 1957 while laying at New Orleans, USA was she towed by the Dutch tug Cycloop later assisted by the Titan towards Vlissingen, Netherlands departing on 15 September 1957, arriving on 18 October 1957 at the shipyard Kon. Mij. De Schelde to be repaired. A so-called banana boat.
