Norway ordered building submarine in Germany according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens dated 1907 No. 11

An item dealing with the Norwegian naval budget for 1907-1907 mentioned a budget of 300.000 crones for purchasing submarines. The order was given to the Krupp Germaniawerft, Kiel, Germany chosen by a commission unanimous out of the tenders sent by Simon Lake, Fiat Muggiano, Electric Boat Company/Whitehead and the shipyards Gusto (Schiedam, Netherlands and Mason.(1)

The Kobben or A-1, delivered on 28 November 1909, stricken in 1926 and broken up in 1933.
