Developed in the process which qualifications future cruisers needed. The design was part of three designs requested in May 1915 as base for further designs but finally was chosen for another design dated April 1915 partly made by the navy civilian engineer Cook.
Dimensions 720 (waterline) x 73’0” (waterline) x 20;6: feet and a normal displacement pf 16.500 tons. Block coefficient .536. Longitudinal coefficient . 595. Normal displacement of 16.500 tons: hull complete with fittings 7.348 tons, steam engineering 4.670 tons, reserve feed, 2/3 supply 974 tons, battery and ammunition and 2/3 ordnance store 1.325 tons, equipment and 2/3 equipment stores 496 tons, outfit and 2/3 stores 545 tons and oil fuel + 2/3 full supply 1/142 tons. Turbines machinery with 10 boiler rooms supplying 73.000 ehp allowing a speed of 35 knots and with a speed of 10 knots a range of 12.000 nautical miles. Armament was to consist of 2x2-40,6cm/16”breech loading rifled guns (1 turret fore, 1 turret aft), 7-12,7cm/ 5” anti torpedo boats quick firing guns and 4-7,62cm/3” anti aircraft guns. Lacking armour protection.
