An item reported that the Soviet fenced
and road served Chkalovsk shipyard with the geographic coordinates 56.44.45
North and 54.14.20 East was located at the south border of Chkalovsk on the
west bank of the Volga. The shipyard possessed a side-haul marine railway with
3 transverse slipways for new building and repairs. 2 quays and 14 buildings (2
fabrication, 3 ships, 9 support). There was minimal one crane available for the
slipways. The purpose of the shipyard was not known, it could be either for
newbuilding of for repairs.
