German training ship Horst Wessel (1946-1945) and American coast guard sail training ship CG Eagle (WIX-327) 1945-

USA-flagged, MMSI 303990000 and call sign NRCB. Barque used as a sailing training cutter for future officers of the US Coast Guard. Also known as the Barque Eagle. Laid down as the Horst Wessel by Blohm&Voss, Hambug, Germany with yard number 508 for the Kriegsmarine on 15 February 1936, launched on 13 June 1936, commissioned on 17 September 1936, decommissioned in 1939, used as docked training ship for the Hitler Jugend at Stralsund, recommissioned in 1942, surrendered to British forces at Flensburg in April 1945, handed over to the USA and commissioned in the US Coast Guard as the Eagle on 15 May 1946.

Of the Gorch Fock-class although an improved version. Displacement 1.813 tons (full load) and as dimensions 71 (waterline)-90 (over all) x 12 x 5,3 (full load) metres or 234-295 x 39 x 17,5 feet. Fitted out with 1-1.200hp MTU 8V 4000 diesel. Speed 10 (diesel)-19 (under sail) knots. Crew numbers 57 men (including 7 officers) permanent and while used as a training ship 80 men (including 12 officers) and 150 trainees. Armament in the Second World War including 2-2cm anti aircraft guns mounted on the bridge wings, another 2 on the foredeck and 2-2cm Flakvierling (quad) mounted on the waist.
