British destroyer HMS Electra (H27)1933-1942

Of the E-class destroyers, preceded by C and D-classes and succeeded by G and H-classes. Building ordered on 1 November 1932, laid down by Hawthorn Leslie and Company, Hebburn, England on 15 March 1933, launched on 15 February 1934, commissioned on 13 September 1934, building costs 252.350 pound sterling, sunk in the Battle of the Java Sea, Dutch East Indies on 27 February 1942 and stricken on 1 January 1946. Displacement 1.428 (standard)-1.970 (deep load) tons and as dimensions 100,3 (Over all) x 10,13 x 3,81 (deep draught) metres or 329 x 33.3 x 12,6 feet. The 2 Persons geared steam turbines and 3 Admiralty 3-drum boilers supplied via 2 shafts 36.000 shp allowing a speed of 35,5 knots or with a speed of 15 knots a range of 6.350 nautical miles. Crew numbered 145 men. Armament consisted of 4x1-12cm/4.7” Mk IX quick firing guns, 2x3-12,7mm/0.50” machine guns, 2x4-53,3cm/21” torpedo tubes and 20 depth charges (1 tack+2 throwers).
