An item referred to an anonymous informant who reported that he saw a large number of navy and merchant ships undergoing repairs at the Sovromtransport at Galati, Romania. Among these ships were the Romanian destroyers Marasti and Marasesti, 2 fast motor gunboats, a Soviet destroyer twice the size of the Marasesti and named after a Russian town of which he forgot the name, two Soviet motor gunboats which were larger than the Romanian version and finally a capsized 1.000 tons Soviet ship. All fore mentioned ships were active on the Black Sea. Furthermore he sighted 3-4 Romanian Danube tugs used for towing of barges, 20 barges and 6 Romanian board guard motor boats. The later were used for minesweeping on the Danube. The repair activities were limited to superstructure modifications and without adding equipment. Possible were the antennas changed but certainly not the radios.
