An item reported the launching of the British destroyer HMS Hope at the Wallsend shipyard of Swan, Hunter and Wigham Richardson on 6 September [1911]. She was on of the 20 destroyers built under the Building program of 1909-1911. The main engines (Parsons turbines) were manufactured by the Wallsend Slipway and Engineering Co. driving 3 shafts and crews. The same company delivered also the four petrol fired Yarrow boilers. Her speed was to be 27 knots. Displacement was 780 tons.(1)

Of the Acorn-class, preceded by Beagle-class and succeeded by Acheron-class, laid down on 9 December 1909, launched on 6 September 1910, completed in March 1911 and in February 1920 sold at Malta to be scrapped.
