Japanese merchant ship attacked east of Rabaul according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 27 May 1942

An item reported that on 12 May east of Rabaul [New Britain, Bismarck Archipelago, Papua New Guinea] a Japanese merchant ship was attacked and probably hit with 2-3 torpedoes.
