A deed dated 3 April 1656 (notary Lambert Adriaensz Schorel nr. 488) mentioned that Huijbert Ysbrantsz Beets on behalf of his company hired from Jan Pietersz Kock of Edam, Netherlands the ship de Noorderlanden of 160 last for ƒ 2.670 to be used as a Greenland whaler.
