Worse results for German and Dutch Greenland whalers according to the Dutch newspaper Oprechte Haerlemsche courant dated 5 August 1686

An item dated Amsterdam, Netherlands 5 August reported the arrival at Hamburg, Germany of a Greenland whaler which was heavily damaged and without catch results, 10 other whalers had also caught none whales and 38 other whalers just 1,5 whale. Gerrit Tortel reported the loss of the Kromhuysen and there were a lot of others wrecks sighted with very ‘wild’ ice and that of the 150 whalers many had none whales caught and the major part just 7 whales.
