British cruiser HMS Jamaica ordered to go as fast as possible to China according to the Dutch newspaper Het dagblad dated 27 April 1949

An item reported that the British cruiser HMS Jamaica at the moment stationed at Bermuda was to depart as soon as possible towards China.(1)

Of the Fiji-class light cruisers, preceded by Dido-class, succceeded by Minotaur-class, building ordered under 1938 Naval Programme, laid down by Vickers-Armstrong, Barrow-in-Furness, United Kingdom on 28 April 1939, launched on 16 November 1940, commissioned on 26 June 1942, decommissioned on 20 November 1957, stricken on 1960 and sold to be broken up on 14 November 1960.
