British destroyer HMS Jersey survived torpedo attack according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviasch nieuwsblad dated 9 December 1939

An item dated London, England 8 December reported that the British destroyer HMS Jersey was damaged by a torpedo. Probably were 10 crew members including 2 officers killed.(1)

The F72. Part of the J-class destroyer, preceded by Tribal-class and succeeded by L and M-classes, ordered on 25 March 1937, laid down by J. Samuel White and Company, Cowes, Wight on 20 September 1937, launched on 26 September 1938, commissioned on 28 April 1939 and sunk on 2 May 1941 in the entrance to Grand Harbor, Malta while striking a Italian aircraft-dropped mine. Aft section between 1946-1949 and in 1968 blown up and salvaged. Torpedoed off Haisborough Sands by the German destroyer Z12 Erich Giese.
