Japanese passenger-cargo ship (ex-Taiho Maru 1918-1929) Tempei Maru 1929-1944

Launched by Osaka Iron Works Ltd., Osaka, Japan in December 1918, renamed Tempei Maru in 1929, requisitioned by Japanese army on 1 December 1941 and converted into the troop transport Alloted Army No. 146 and sunk by the American submarine USS Ray (SS-271) on 22 May 1944 off Davao, Philippines. Call sign JHVD. Gross tonnage 6.095 tons, under deck 5.171 tons, net tonnage 4.453 tons and as dimensions 407.2 x 50.8 x 32.5 feet. Oil fuel bunker capacity 1.253 tons and a range of 17.500 nautical miles with a speed of 10 knots.
