French whaling ship Valiant wrecked according to the newspaper The Polynesian dated 27 March 1847

An item reported the loss of the French whaling ship Valiant master Vanier of He Havre on 30 December 1846 near Margarita Bay, Lower California. She was loaded with 600 barrels oil. Part of her crew returned at Honolulu, Hawaii with the J.E. Donnell master Hussey who also salvaged 200 barrels oil and other other properties.
