Italian passenger ship (ex-RMS Virginian 1904-1920, Drottningholm 1920-1948, Brasil 1948-1951) Homeland 1951-1955


Launched by Alexander Stephen and Sons, Glasgow, Scotland on 22 December 1904, maiden voyage begun on 6 April 1905 and finally broken up at Trieste, Italy in February 1955. Owned between 1904-1920 by the Allan Line and used on the route Liverpool-Montreal and since 1920 of the Swedish American Line serving between Gothenburg and New York City and after 1940 by the Italian shipping company Home Lines. Accommodation for 1.712 passengers. Gross tonnage 10.757 tons and as dimensions 164 x 18 x 12 metres or 538 x 60 x 38 feet. Her steam turbine machinery allowed a speed of 18 knots.
