Italian battle ship design S3 drawn by general Luigi Barberis 1930s

Barberis (1) was part of the Navy Corps of Engineers and made several designs of battleships. Displacement 24.351 (type)- 30.000 (maximum) tons and as dimensions 257,50 (buoyancy) x 25,90 (maximum) x 8,60 metres. Length armour belt 177,00 metres. With a horsepower of 212.800hp a speed of 36 knots. Main armament 4x2-35,6cm guns, 2 fore and 2 aft. Armor of the type of the British HMS Hood.

1. Luigo Barberis (Alessandria 31 May 1875-Bricherasio 1946. In 1931 appointed as member of the Technical Committee, section naval of the Italian Naval and Aeronautical Register. Between 1935-1941 responsible for building of RAMB banana boxes and tankers when part of the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy.
